MAMAH and partners, with technical support from Bobo Eco Farm have established satellite insect breeding sites so as to enable sustainable access for our farmers to BSFL eggs/hatchlings. Prior to COVID-19 farmers were receiving eggs/hatchlings from Bobo Eco Farm who would transport it to our farmers for further rearing to feed their poultry. COVID-19 lockdown disrupted the supply chain, as such we decided to establish community-based breeding centres so as to ensure continuity even in situations such as nationwide lockdowns.
Below is a BSFL breeding centre in Rusese village, Nkanja sub-county, Kyegegwa district. It is run by farmers.
